WordPress is an open-source blogging tool and a dynamic content management system (CMS) for publishing content on the Internet. It provides a simple, user-friendly and web-based interface for users to publish and manage content on the web, and enables users to spend time focusing on the content of their site instead of learning how to build a site.
Information Technology Services has set up a new secure web server environment and implemented the WordPress content management system for the University community. A WordPress kickoff meeting was held in June 2012. The new WordPress system uses the branded look and feel developed by URI Communications and Marketing department and provides an easy way for URI academic and administrative departments, faculty, staff and students to create new or migrate existing websites to the new server environment.
